POSITION OVERVIEW
The Lead Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide spectrum of HVAC equipment including specialty systems, communicating platforms, geothermal applications, and high-rise mechanical setups. This role requires a technician with exceptional problem-solving ability and experience across multiple disciplines within HVAC technology.

- Diagnose and repair a wide range of residential HVAC systems
- Lead specialty service calls with confidence and minimal oversight
- Communicate effectively with homeowners and office staff
- Document findings, recommendations, and repair actions clearly
- Provide professional system evaluations and upgrade suggestions

REQUIRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

- Gas furnaces (single-stage, two-stage, variable-speed)
- Heat pumps (standard, dual-fuel, communicating)
- Air handlers, PSC and ECM blower motors, variable-speed systems
- Airflow diagnosis, static pressure testing, duct performance evaluation
2. Advanced / Communicating Systems
- Trane ComfortLink II/ Trane Link
- Lennox S30/S40 platforms
- Daikin communicating systems
- Bosch inverter systems
- Ability to interpret data buses, error codes, and control logic
- Comfort advisor communication between indoor/outdoor components
3. Geothermal Systems
- Water-to-air and water-to-water units
- Grundfos / Taco pump modules
- Desuperheater diagnostics
- Loop field understanding (open loop & closed loop)
- Flow center troubleshooting
4. Water-Source Heat Pumps (High-Rise Work)
- Vertical stack WSHP units
- High-rise building control systems
- Water loop temperature, flow, and pressure troubleshooting
- Freeze protection setups and safeties
5. Wine Cellar Cooling Systems
- Wine Guardian, WhisperKOOL, CellarPro, Breezaire
- Ducted, ductless, and through-the-wall configurations
- Humidity control diagnosis
- TXV/EEV metering troubleshooting
- Condensate and airflow management for enclosed cellar environments
6. High-Velocity/Small-Duct Systems
- Unico & SpacePak
- ECM blowers, control boards, and heat kits
- Proper airflow balancing for small-diameter supply networks
7. Electrical & Controls Proficiency
- Low-voltage and high-voltage troubleshooting
- Control boards, relays, sequencers, contactors
- Heat strip and emergency heat testing
- Wiring diagrams and control schematics
- Safety controls and limit switches
8. Refrigeration Diagnostics
- Advanced refrigerant diagnostics for R410A, R32, and R22
- TXV/EEV operation and superheat/subcool calculations
- Leak detection methods (electronic, nitrogen pressure tests, dye)
- Brazing, nitrogen purging, vacuum pump operation, micron understanding
9. Customer Communication & Leadership
- Clear professional communication
- Ability to educate homeowners on system performance
- Leadership capability with junior technicians
- High standards of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism
